Curtiss-Wright Corporation (NYSE:CW) has acquired Systran Corporation of Dayton, Ohio. Systran is a leading supplier of highly specialized, high-performance data communications products for real-time systems, primarily for the aerospace and defense, industrial automation and medical imaging markets. Key applications include simulation, process control, advanced digital signal processing, data acquisition, image processing, and test and measurement. Systran has secured positions on key platforms such as the SPY-3 multifunction radar for the DDX destroyer, UEWR, Boeing 767 tanker, MK 45 gun control system, and the JSF simulator. Customers include BAE Systems, Boeing, General Dynamics, L-3, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Raytheon, among others. Systran will become a unit of Curtiss-Wright Controls.
Curtiss-Wright designs, manufactures and overhauls motion control and flow control systems and provides a variety of metal treatment services. Curtiss-Wright Controls is a leader in niche motion control systems and embedded computing.
Curtiss-Wright acquired Systran in a transaction valued at approximately $18 million. Philpott Ball & Werner served as advisor to Curtiss-Wright.
