Space Computer Corporation (“SCC”), a leading provider of realtime hyperspectral data signal processing systems, software and algorithms, has been acquired by ITT Exelis (NYSE:XLS). SCC will become a part of Exelis Geospatial Systems.

Founded in 1987 and based in Los Angeles, California, SCC specializes in the analysis, optimization and exploitation of hyperspectral sensor data. SCC produces customized hyperspectral processing systems, algorithms and software using its suite of real-time processing tools. SCC also offers services such as system integration, sensor system data analysis and evaluation, field support and hyperspectral training.

Hyperspectral sensors are installed on a large network of satellites, aircraft and UAV’s and are used to detect, locate and analyze hidden or obscured targets, to cue other sensors for further verification, and to downlink data in real time to analysts and other end users. For over 15 years, SCC has provided the signal processing subsystems for nearly every hyperspectral sensor system operated by the US Department of Defense. Other customers include the intelligence community, federal government agencies and laboratories, major defense industry prime contractors, NASA, as well as leading commercial and industrial companies.
